Ride Information

The  Little Switzerland area has become a hub of motorycle rides and motorycle traffic in th elast ten years and continues to increase every year. The MurderMountainRun.com is recognized as one of the top rides in the area as a half day loop over 114 miles traveling through two states and peaking at Carver’s Gap on Roun Mountain. The MurderMountainRun.com motorcycle ride meanders south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to NC 80. After a short ride on US Hwy 19E, it turns north on NC 80 through Kona, where the infamous murder of Charlie Silvers took place in 1830. His wife, Frankie, was the last woman hanged in North Carolina, for killing him with an ax and chopping him to pieces. (Frankly, though, Charlie was no angel).  Charlie has multiple gravesites, because they kept finding pieces of him after the initial burial. The ride goes through the area of the murder, thus getting its name.

When creating the The PineolePython181.com I wanted to crossover a few more close rides by making a loop. This motorcycle ride is called the Python Squeeze which starts off down the mountain like the original Pineola Python 181 but heads west towards Lake James and back up 221 and 19E passing the sister restaurant of Highlanders Pub and Grill; the southern cooking Elk River Depot with a variety of choices, pizza, indoor and outdoor dining. Then heads back on the Heaton curvy river road towards Banner Elk and back up the mountain to Tyncastle where you started. Whether your on the original or the squeeze this rides has the most restaurants, bars, views and curves all wrapped into one great motorcycle ride.

Ride Information

The Tombstone is an alternate ride as part of the MurderMountainRun.com Motorcycle Ride in the mountains of North Carolina. The ride is 75 miles and takes about 2 hours of time. The Tombstone ride starts by traveling on highway 19E W through Burnsville NC. The ride then takes 19W North along the Cane River un til you reach and take a right on Hunting Dale Road which continues along the river unti you come to a bridge where you take a left across the bridge then a right and stay on Hunting Dale Road now following the North Toe River which the road turns into 197 S. Turn right on 197 s / NC 226 S and continue to Penland Road by taking another right. This road then continues back to 19E where the first leg of the ride was traveled.
